Bobby Riley, CEO of Riley Exploration Group, Inc., is a highly regarded oil and gas executive with nearly 40-years’ experience in the independent oil and gas sector. Having founded this rapidly growing exploration and production (E&P) company in 2012, his vision, tenacity and leadership have garnered the respect of his peers, as well as those who are a part of the rapidly growing Riley Exploration team. Riley, as co-founder, served as CEO and Chairman of their predecessor company Riley Exploration, LLC from 2007 to 2012. This company, with the same core management team as Riley Exploration Group, LLC, proved successful by creating value in the South Texas Eagle Ford Shale and the Eastern Shelf of the Permian Basin.
Riley served as managing partner of privately-held E&P company Tuleta Energy Partners, LLC from 2002 to 2007 until it was acquired by publicly-traded Activa Resources, Inc. Following that acquisition, he served as vice-president of operations at Activa Resources from 2007 to 2008. From 1997-2002, he worked as a drilling consultant specialist for a number of clients where he gained invaluable hands-on experience in the field. Prior to that, and for almost six years, Riley was president of an oil and gas service company specializing in well design and reservoir data acquisition that was active in Nigeria, Venezuela and Norway.
In addition to his management and operational expertise, Riley designed and patented specialized completion equipment in 1996 that was ultimately licensed to Baker-Hughes. He also participated in the design, development and testing of Intelligent Well Bore Systems which Weatherford International purchased in 2000. He founded Durango Energy, Inc., in 1984, where Riley drilled his first well and eventually operated up to 150 wells at his initial E&P start-up. Riley began his distinguished career at Cameron Iron Works in Houston, TX in 1975.
Riley holds a bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting and Finance from the University of Arts & Science of Oklahoma, and completed the Advanced Drilling Operations and Well Control program at Murchison Drilling School. He is a member of the American Petroleum Institute and the Society of Professional Engineers and is IADC / MMS Well-Cap Certified. A firm believer in giving back, Riley is committed to supporting the arts, education, and health and wellness programs in Oklahoma and Texas.
